the bland finale
a shoujo kakumei utena: l'apocalypse de l'adolescence fan soundtrack

The dystopian, now archetypal last shot in the dark, with an outcome predictable but still impossible for our late Prince to grasp. A stickler for tired formulas, that one.

I went from a massive thirty-five-track series FST to a four-track condensation. While I don't particularly subscribe to the "movie as retelling of series" theory, I will agree that it touches upon the same overarching themes of purpose-driven innocence, friendship as conviction, invincibility as ego, and eventual humility leading to a desertion of the former self. There seems to be a greater deal of blatant clinginess and outright refutation of maturity in the movie, however.

My first FST wound up with a fairly "alternative" sound, something fairly teenage and a bit more accessible, much like the series. This, by contrast, ended up in the more electronic end. We'll say it's to match the movie's updated aesthetics and attitude. FST is in mp3 format, with album info and artwork for those using iTunes.

In any case.

01. Introit & Kyrie: revenez à l'académie
        BlutEngel - Fairyland

02. Offertoire & Agnus Dei: la jeune mariée
        Ilya - Baalbec

03. Gloria: arrivée du prince
Meat Beat Manifesto - Son of Sam

04. In Paradisum: au revoir
        Thom Yorke - Harrowdown Hill

the zip.

Grabbed it.
Ooh, it's been a while since I heard Meat Beat Manifesto. Not a band that's usually tied to SKU - good call!

Is the Thom Yorke track from his (relatively) new solo project?

The Meat Beat Manifesto is the one track I wasn't quite confident about, so I'm reassured to hear that it works decently; thank you.

Yes it is. :) It's quite a good album, actually.
